Statistic

From Econterms, for About.com

Definition: A statistic is a function of one or more random variables that does not depend upon any unknown parameter.

The distribution of the statistic may depend on one or more unknown parameters, but the statistic can be calculated without knowing them just from the realizations of the random variables, e.g. the data in a sample.

In general a statistic could be a vector of values, but often it is a scalar.
