Saddle Point

From

Definition: In a second-order linear difference equation system, if one root has absolute value greater than one, and the other root has absolute value less than one, then the steady state of the system is called a saddle point. In this case, the system is unstable for almost all initial conditions. The exception is the set of initial conditions that begin on the eigenvector associated with the stable eigenvalue.
