As an economics teacher, I find the best way to get students to learn the concepts of microeconomics is to show them how the conepts apply to topics that they're interested in. In any economics class there's always a large proportion of sports fans, so it's a topic I bring up quite often in my classes.

I just want to assure my readers that there will be more than baseball articles on this site! While sports economics is a big topic, I plan to cover other topics such as tax policy, property rights, and the stock market. I'm hoping there will be something on this site for everyone.

For the baseball fans reading this article, I'd really like to know what you think of the off-season moves made by the Jays. Has General Manager J.P. Ricciardi used the concept of opportunity cost effectively when creating his roster of players? First I'd like you to vote in this poll.

Secondly you can participate in the forums. This would be a good way to give a much more detailed description of your opinion. I've started a thread about the issue here. Hope to see you there!
