Of course, I'm not going to have guest authors write all the articles on the site. I took this job so I would have a soapbox on which to tell the world my ideas on economics, and I plan to take advantage of it! Here are just a few of the areas I'll be covering in 2003:

More Articles

I plan to write a few articles on each of the various economics subjects listed on the site. Sports economics is my favorite sub field of economics, so you’ll be sure to see lots of articles in that area. A new article on that subject will be appearing in the middle of January. At the same time, I will not neglect the more mainstream topics in economics. Here are a few macroeconomics articles I plan to write in 2003:

  • Purchasing Power Parity: Does it Exist?
  • An Examination of Federal Deposit Insurance
  • Currency Markets and Arbitrage Opportunities
I’ll also write a few articles on the legal and economic arguments for and against Peer-to-Peer file sharing programs such as Kazaa and Audio Galaxy.

More “How To” Articles The How To Ace Your Econometrics Test article was a big hit with students, since passing an econometrics course tends to be the most difficult obstacle for college students majoring in economics. I plan to add a few more articles in the How To series, such as:

  • How to Find Economic Data
  • How to Write a Great Economics Term Paper
More Book Reviews

I plan to share with you my thoughts on the best and the worst economics books I’ve read. My first book review, a review of the Economics of Barbarism was posted in late 2002. I plan to add reviews of my favorite economics books of the 1990’s, such as Hidden Order by David Friedman and Fair Play by Stephen Landsburg.

Interviews

I’ll be conducting interviews with some interesting personalities in economics over the next 12 months. I’ll be interviewing both economic writers, and academics currently engaged in economic research.

My ultimate goal is to have this site be the first place people with an interest in economics come to when they want to learn or to interact with others who share their passion. I also want to help as many discouraged economics students as possible get the help they need to excel in their program. To do this, I will need your help. If you have any ideas for articles or stories, please e-mail me. With your help, we can get much closer to that goal in 2003 than we are now.

Thanks again,

Mike Moffatt
