Definition of The Geometric Mean: Geometric mean is a kind of average of a set of numbers that is different from the arithmetic average. The geometric mean is well defined only for sets of positive real numbers.

Geometric mean of A and B is the square root of (A*B). The geometric mean of A, B, and C is the cube root of (A*B*C). And so forth.

Contrast this to the arithmetic means, which are .5*(A+B) and .333*(A+B+C). (Econterms)
