The Economic Report of the President...

By February 20, 2012

Follow me on:

I know you've all been waiting on pins and needles for this to come out...the Economic Report of the President was released last week, and it contains a bunch of interesting tidbits as well as a general summary from Alan Krueger, President Obama's Chief Economic Adviser, on where he thinks the economy is headed.

400+ pages of interventionist bullcrap. Really great of this report to chide us about not being prepared for retirement. With all the bubbles and busts produced by government and their artificially low interest rates – that’s some environment they’ve created for long term savers.

Ah yes, the enlightened one “…Krueger has examined the effect of minimum wage legislation on employment and, contrary to traditional economic theory, casts doubt on the principle that increasing the minimum wage decreases employment. He also co-authored a book on the subject with fellow economist David Card entitled Myth and Measurement: The New Economics of the Minimum Wage. A number of conservative economists take exception to Card and Krueger’s findings, but their conclusions have, in large part, stood up to analytical scrutiny.”

If labor costs don’t matter lets just raise the minimum wage to $50/hour and be done with it.

(3) Mary Donnelly says:

Economists are people; as such they have their own opinions etc.; as economists they are suposed to research, find answers, and, perhaps forecast the future.

They are nonetheles people. who think that ecomomists are not “people”.

On one occasion I received the following comment:
” I saw you dancing last night; you seemed to be enjoying it–but you are an economist!”

My response was : “I was; I did; I am . Economists are people you know.

Do Democrats really understand economics? They appear mentally challenged or stubbornly stupid.
