Dani Rodrik took a poll asking "Who is the economist you would most want to see blogging?" His results are here. Stiglitz finished in first, D. Acemoglu finished in second. Both fine choices.
I was disheartened to see that the economist who is the biggest (indirect) influence on my career, Eric Maskin was not named on any ballots. I guess there are not enough of us out there interested in mechanism design.
